I think it’s about high time I updated this thing.
My online persona is Heliodus, a name that I’ve concocted for myself about 9 to 10 years ago. I took the word “Helios”, which means “Sun” in Latin, and add the “dus” for fun. Hence the name, Heliodus. (Apparently, it’s also the name for a sedimentary rock.)
Consequently, if you type in Heliodus in Google search, you’ll probably find all the sites that I’m involved in.
I am an art student at California State University of Long Beach, pursuing a degree in Animation. I’m already in my 5th year of college, with no signs of stopping yet; the path to a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts is a long one indeed. (And filled with expenses at every turn). However, I’m enjoying every minute of it, and it is my sincere hope (and goal) to work for Pixar someday.
I also have a fierce admiration for Hayao Miyazaki and the movies his studio produces. Another one of my goals is to own every film and artbook created by him and Studio Ghibli.
As for art, I’ll say this: I love doing sketches, but I’m pretty bad at finishing drawings. Also, color is my enemy at the moment – I’m in the process of converting it as a comrade (we don’t have to be friends. Color hurts my brain sometimes).
